American Indian Art Gallery

Leo H. Schuering, Jr. has had a lifelong interest in American Indians – their lives, culture and history. His grandfather collected American Indian artifacts and photographs from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Many of them were displayed or stored in an old barn. In the late 1950s when Mr. Schuering noticed many of the artifacts and photographs were deteriorating, he suggested that his grandfather store them more carefully. He did so and he later gave the artifacts and photographs to Mr. Schuering. Since then, Mr. Schuering too has collected artifacts and also sculptures of American Indians. He has commissioned paintings that incorporate a number of the artifacts. Some of the artifacts and paintings are displayed here. All of the artifacts, photographs and paintings are displayed in the law firm’s office.
