Leo H. Schuering, Jr.
Leo "Butch" Schuering is a senior partner and one of the founding members
of the firm. After attending the United States Air Force Academy and then obtaining
his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Davis, he received
his law degree from the Hastings College of Law University of California in 1964.
He is admitted to practice in California and Colorado, as well as various United
States District Courts and the United States Supreme Court.
With more than 40 years of litigating before the federal and California trial and
appellate courts, Butch is well versed in handling medical malpractice defense, medical
professional advocacy, elder abuse, insurance bad faith and civil litigation. His
expertise is recognized in his listing each year from 1987 through 2007 in Best
Lawyers in America.
Butch is recognized by his peers with their highest ranking, "AV" (very high/preeminent),
in Martindale-Hubbell. Butch is a member of several professional organizations including
the California State Bar Association, the Sacramento County Bar Association, the Colorado
Bar Association, the Association of Defense Counsel Member Board of Governors 1981-1984,
the American Association of Justice, the American Board of Trial Advocates and the
Defense Research Institute National Chairman Economics Committee 1990-1993.
Butch is a Sacramento native who enjoys bird hunting, professional sports and opera.
